The Department of Tech & Media Ethics at the USC School of Cinematic Arts is dedicated to exploring how misinformation, digital platforms, and emerging technologies shape public understanding. Established in 2023, the department brings together students, faculty, and media professionals to examine the ethical and societal impact of the digital information age.

Faculty Leadership
Led by Professors Diego Berdakin and Michael Broukhim, the department combines academic rigor with real-world expertise. With deep experience in technology, entrepreneurship, and media, their leadership ensures a practical, interdisciplinary approach to one of today’s most pressing challenges.
A Learning Environment Grounded in Urgency
Through hands-on coursework, case studies, and collaborative projects, students in the department learn how digital narratives are shaped—and reshaped—by algorithms, platforms, and bad actors. The department’s goal is to prepare the next generation of ethical thinkers and communicators to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving media landscape.
